What a legend, a great actor, his music doesn’t get the attention it deserves! He’s the one who gave Elvis any competion back in the day! In fact, Elvis looked up to Rick! Sad, but they seem to only play 4-5 different songs of Rick’s on the radio, there’s so many great ones they dont play for some crazy reason.

Also, Rick never seemed to age, a real Peter Pan, I guess it was the life style, no stress, the great R&R life style. He’s only lived to 45, BUT BOY, HE SURE DID LIVE!

@VertmanTVS I think ur view on Elvis and Ricky are skewed just a little lol The biggest TEEN star was Pat Boone with studys done on who they perfer in High School back in the 50’s and Pat Boone was 3-1 compared to Elvis…Elvis and Pat were always fighting for number one….Ricky was there too but he was with the likes of the Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly etc. Elvis opened for Pat too once if u think Elvis looked up to Rick think again….

@Lotsoffun111 Pat Boone was pretty much on his way out by the time the 60’s hit. If it wasn’t for Elvis, Ricky Nelson would have been #1. As it stands, he ended up #2 right behind Elvis. Plus, the two of them were friends. They often got together with other friends for a game of touch football. Rick’s team often lost. One day he showed up with a few players who played professional football. It was a joke and I think his team won that day.

@slm0428 That is completely untrue… Pat career wasnt ending he just moved on to other things and Pat has #2 record sales behind Elvis elvis in the 50’s Pat mostly moved on to Christian songs hitting several #1 hits on Christian charts. but in 1961 he probably had hes biggest hit ever with moody river and then Little Beach Girl in 1964. And of Course Pat’s Daughter had the biggest hit of the 70’s with you Light Up My Life hitting #1 and staying there for 10 weeks i think
